Privacy policy

VFDspindle is a free reference site. There is no account to create, nothing is sold on this site, and no payment details are collected here. This page explains what little data is collected and what you can turn off.

What this site collects

Traffic statistics only. When you load a page the site records which page was requested, the country or region of the visitor, the referring site and the browser type. It is used to see which pages are useful and which are not, and it is collected in aggregate — it is not used to identify you and it is not sold to anyone.

Standard web server logs record IP addresses and user-agent strings for a short period, as every web server does, for security and troubleshooting. Nothing else is stored about you.

Cookies

Depending on which statistics are enabled, one of two things happens:

• No cookies. Traffic measurement may be provided by Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookieless — it counts visits without storing anything on your device and without following you between sites.
• Analytics cookies. If Google Analytics is enabled, it sets cookies to distinguish returning visitors. Where the law requires it, these load only after you accept the cookie notice.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser without affecting any part of this site — none of the reference tables or calculators need them.

Advertising

This site may display advertisements, including ads served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies to serve ads based on previous visits to this and other websites — usually called interest-based or personalised advertising.

How to opt out:

• Opt out of personalised advertising in your Google account, or block third-party cookies in your browser

Opting out does not remove advertising; it makes the ads less relevant. Some ads are placed directly by us or by our own brands — those involve no third-party tracking.

Links to other sites

Reference pages link to shops where the parts discussed can be bought, and to further reading. Once you leave this site the destination's own privacy policy applies. We have no access to, or control over, what those sites do with your data.

Your rights

If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal data held about you, and object to processing. Because this site holds no accounts and collects only aggregate traffic statistics, there is normally no personal data tied to you to produce. If you believe otherwise, use the contact address in the footer of any page.

If you are a California resident you have the right to know what is collected, to request deletion, and not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. This site does not sell personal information.

Contacting us

If you email us, we use your address and whatever you wrote for one purpose only: replying to you. We do not add you to a mailing list and we do not pass your details to anyone else.

If advertising or downloads are later served by third parties, this page will say so before that happens.

Children

This site is a technical reference for people building and maintaining machine tools and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information, contact us and it will be removed.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version is posted here with a new date. Material changes — such as switching on a new statistics tool — appear here before they take effect.
